September release

The September release brings in a long awaited improvement of the Dashboard, which you'll notice next time you log in. :-)

You'll also notice the red "What's new" notice in the top right, which shows recently added features - in this case a "I use Scalr!" link that takes you to your profile page where you can add some information about yourself or your company, and appear on a special Testimonials page. There's no obligation to participate, but if you like Scalr, it would help others make a decision, knowing that peers have chosen it.

We also added some API methods: GetScriptDetails, RebootInstance, GetEvents, GetLogs, and added the ability to execute scripts with specified revision and parameters.

Plus a couple of improvements:
* Added ability to edit farm role specified security group
* Added Hide terminated instances checkbox on instances list.
* Added ability to view all instances (include non-scalr ones)
* Added ability to set system timezone for clients (Logs, Events, API logs)

And finally, there's a couple of bug fixes:
* Fixed bug in garbage.php with "select all" checkbox
* Fixed bug with default SSH port (see thread)
* Various bugfixes and improvements

Graduation from Beta

Good news! Scalr is graduating from beta!

We're confident that we have reached a sufficient level of reliability with the extra redundancy added last week, the 1.1.0 release, the August Scalr.net release, and all the bugs we ironed out. So we decided to let go of the "we're in beta" excuse and brave a new world!

For now, we are extending the beta pricing at $50/month until August 15 as a special promotion. After that, it will be a regular $99/month. Signup before August 15th and benefit from the promotional $50/month beta price forever!

As a courtesy to our beta subscribers, they get to keep the beta pricing. Forever.

Important DNS Upgrade on Scalr.net

We are proud to announce that we have made our set of nameservers Highly Available through two changes.

First, we have two new authoritative nameservers, running on EC2. The first, ns3.scalr.net (174.129.215.6), is hosted in the US region of EC2. The second, ns4.scalr.net (79.125.14.19), is in the EU region of EC2.

Second, the nameservers are now managed by Scalr. As such they are constantly monitored for uptime, and will be automatically replaced in the event of a failure.

The following servers are now available to serve your DNS zones:

ns1.scalr.net 174.132.108.66
ns2.scalr.net 174.132.97.130
ns3.scalr.net 174.129.215.6
ns4.scalr.net 79.125.14.19

There has been and will be no interruption of service from this change.

Cheers,
The Scalr Team

We have a blog!

Hello everyone!

We set up this blog to share our thoughts with the community, and put a face to the team behind the open source Scalr project.

We'll obviously post announcements, but also expose the thought process that led us to make the decisions we took as we build an organization around Scalr.

To keep up to date, you can subscribe to the blog's RSS feed, and start following us on Twitter.
