I knew him as the author of Scalr and was impressed with his intellect. Someone said "The mark of brilliance is exemplified by the simplicity of solution to tough problems." Alex's simple solution for one of most perplexing problems of application scaling marks his brilliance. Alex was very down to earth and ready to help.
